University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates, P.A. is located on the corner of Lombard and Paca streets and is open
- Monday and Thursday from 8am - 7pm.
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8am - 4:30pm.
- Saturdays (limited) by appointment only.
Appointments can be made by calling 410-328-8792. Additionally, the services listed below are available by dialing 410-328-8792 and leaving a message in the appropriate mailbox.
HOW TO REACH FAMILY MEDICINE
University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates, P.A. offers access for several patient services.
- Prescription renewals (usual turnaround time - 1-2 business days, unless additional authorization is required by the insurance company;
- Routine HMO authorization requests;
- Records requests; and
- Other non-urgent communication to your physician
Please include the following information in all telephone messages:
- Patient's full name
- Patient's date of birth
- Patient's social security number, if applicable
- Patient's phone number
- Name of physician (last seen or most frequently seen)
- Detailed message of request
- For prescription renewals, please provide medication name, dose, frequency, and number of pills requested/required/needed.
OFFICE OVERVIEW
University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates, P.A., is a faculty practice comprised of 17 attending physicians, complemented by the care rendered by 26 residents training as family physicians. The University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates, P.A., is the largest ambulatory care practice within the University of Maryland School of Medicine, seeing over 35,000 patients per year.
University Family Medicine Associates, P.A. is recognized by a diverse population of patients from throughout the region for providing exceptional medical care. From preventive services to simple and complex medical issues, the physicians at UFM are repeatedly sought out as the "Doctor's Doctor," while delivering the same level of care when caring for its community's less advantaged members.
Three clinical team areas make up the practice office. The full spectrum of family medicine practices in 33 beautifully decorated state-of-the-art exam rooms. From the first newborn, well-child visit to geriatric evaluations, superb medical care is offered to the residents of Baltimore, the employees of the campus and medical center, as well as patients traveling from throughout the state and mid-Atlantic area for specialty care. Well-child visits, adolescent care, annual well woman exams, complete physicals, as well as other preventive services, urgent care and caring for chronic illnesses are but some of the types of services offered by our caring staff. Additional clinical expertise in adolescent, primary sports medicine is also provided. Obstetrical care is an additional hallmark that many members of the faculty, including resident staff, provide within our practice.
Many primary care procedures, including colposcopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, IUD insertion, Norplant placement, cryosurgery, vasectomy and other minor surgical procedures are performed by board-certified family physicians in specialized treatment rooms.

PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY
University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates, P.A. has used electronic mail on a limited basis to communicate between physician and patients for the past several years. We treat all communication between patient and physician with equal confidentiality whether by telephone, regular mail or electronic mail. Patient issues which we do not discuss via electronic mail are as follows:
- Protected diagnoses such as psychiatric conditions
- Results of HIV testing
- Work-related injuries and disability
Electronic mail accounts maintained by commercial subscription services are usually considered private. When communicating from work, however, you should be aware that some companies consider electronic mail corporate property and your electronic mail messages may be monitored. We recommend checking with your company's electronic postmaster before using electronic mail to communicate medical information or concerns.
