Personal History:

I received my medical education at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. I was awarded my MD degree from the University of Lübeck in Germany. I did specialty and subspecialty training at the Medical University of Lübeck in Germany and at the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Research Interests:

  1. Clinical management and surveillance of fetal growth restriction: Primary investigator of a multinational research consortium. Developed a novel management protocol that integrates fetal behavioral and cardiovascular parameters (Integrated fetal testing). Received several research awards.
  2. Screening and prevention of pre-eclampsia: Primary investigator of a multi-site screening study investigating multi-analytes and maternal risk factor for first trimester prediction of pre-eclampsia.
  3. Fetal surveillance: Primary investigator of a clinical study of a novel non-invasive fetal long-term monitor.
  4. Fetal surgery: Application and development of invasive fetal therapies.

Clinical Speciality:

Obstetrics & Gynecology with subspecialization in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Head of the Section of Fetal Medicine

Lab Techniques and Equipment:

Fetoscopic laser ablation for management of twin twin transfusion syndrome.
