Dr. Borja completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Residency Training Program as Chief Resident. He is board-certified and serves as an active oral board examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also actively involved in teaching/supervising medical students and residents. He was awarded the Walter Weintraub Teacher of the Year Award (2006) and the Virginia Huffer Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Residency Training (2006). He has received specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). He chairs the Early Career Psychiatrists Committee (Area 4) of the American Psychiatric Association. His interests include emergency psychiatry, intensive short term dynamic psychiatry (ISTDP) and PTSD.
