Biosketch

I am a Medical Physicist in the Radiation Oncology Department. I received my PhD from the University of California, Irvine. I trained as a post-doctoral fellow at T-11, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico. In 2001 I joined the University of Maryland School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow and in 2004 as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Radiation Oncology. From 2006 to 2009 I worked as a Medical Physicist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Washington DC. In 2009, I re-joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor and I am currently a Clinical Associate Professor. I participate of a wide range of clinical activities: I am responsible for overseeing Medical Physics coverage of our prostate seed implants program (I-125 and Cs-131); I provide Physics clinical coverage of external beam treatments, high-dose rate brachytherapy treatments, Yttriym-90 liver infusions and external and interstitial thermal therapy. I am board-certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). I enjoy my many teaching responsibilities and eagerly participate in Clinical Research projects that advance our field and improve cancer treatments for our patients. I am also interested in Radiobiological Modeling as a way to better understand the basic principles of radiation biological effects.
