Personal History
Dr. Balis is a graduate of the St George's University School of Medicine and received her Psychiatry Residency Training at the University of Maryland, Department of Psychiatry. She has been working on the University of Marylandâ?Ts Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) since the completion of her residency. She is interested in issues related to cultural psychiatry, severe and chronic mental illness and risks for suicide. She is also involved in the education and training of psychiatry residents.

Cultural issues in mental health; Parenting issues for people with severe mental illness; HIV and people with severe mental illness; Suicide risk factors (sesonal variartion and cultural issues)
