Research InterestsDr. Mezghanni's work is focused on the characterization of CTL responses against S. Typhi and their function on mucosal immune system. Her main research interest is to further study short and long-term effector T cell-mediated immune responses (CMI) induced by oral immunization with attenuated S. Typhi live oral vaccines at the mucosal and systemic levels. These studies include the characterization of a human HLA-E-restricted CD8+ T cell subset in volunteers immunized with the Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi strain Ty21,a typhoid vaccine. The insights obtained from these studies will be relevant to the understanding of disease processes and to accelerate the development of effective vaccine strategies. Faculty members:
