Dr. Rawn Salenger is joining the faculty of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at UMMC and UMSJMC. Here, Dr. Salenger will be performing the full array of adult cardiac surgical services. He joins us from Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Suffern, NY where he served as the Director of Valve Surgery and established a multi-disciplinary Heart Valve Team.
Dr. Salenger graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Union College/Albany Medical College Seven Year Medical Program in 1995. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts, and subsequently, a fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in NY. While at Sinai, Dr. Salenger developed his interest and expertise in complex valve surgery. He has also performed a large number of coronary bypass surgeries.
Dr. Salenger's contribution's to the literature include published work on minimizing stroke risk during bypass surgery and a book chapter on patient care after heart surgery.
