Dr. Steven Hanish is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Transplant Surgery at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine and director of hepatobiliary surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He specializes in liver transplantation, and hepatobiliary surgery as well as kidney and pancreas transplantation. Dr. Hanish’s expertise is in the surgical management of primary and metastatic disease of the liver and has a specific interest in the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma.
Dr. Hanish received his Medical Degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed and fellowship in Transplant Surgery at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, and a residency and internship in Surgery at Duke University Hospital.
Dr. Hanish’s funded research includes a study of biomarkers to predict renal recovery in end-stage liver disease. He also heads several active industry-sponsored clinical studies investigating novel drug regimens in the treatment of liver transplant patients.
