Personal History:

Dr. Crawford grew up in Guayaquil, Ecuador and is fluent in Spanish. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. As an undergraduate, his research focused on protein biochemistry, structural biology and antibody design. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He completed his surgical internship and residency at Wayne State University in Detroit. In the middle of his residency, he completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). This was followed by a year of research, also at the MGH, in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Watkins. During that time he also embarked on several clinical research projects under the guidance of Dr. Richard Cambria. After completing his general surgery residency, he returned to Boston for a two-year stint as a clinical fellow in Vascular Surgery at MGH/Harvard Medical School.

Research Interests:
