Research Interests
Dr. Morgan’s research explores pragmatic issues related to the control of infectious diseases in the hospital. Recent work as focused on unintended consequences of patient isolation and other infection prevention legislation. Other expertise includes multidrug-resistant bacteria, the importance of the environment on transmission of bacteria, multicenter infection prevention studies and antimicrobial stewardship.
Dr. Morgan mentors residents, MD and PhD students, has advised the Department of Veterans Affairs appeals board, the Maryland Attorney General’s office and multiple hospitals. He lectures internationally and manages the Research Network for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA).
