After completing my PhD in 1998 on aspects of chlamydial virulence proteins, I joined the Australian Genome Research Facility, Melbourne Australia as a Research Officer, establishing the Microarray Group there. In 2002 I joined The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) as a postdoctoral fellow and was actively involved in several microbial genome projects. After joining the TIGR Faculty, I focused my work onto the genomics of the Order Chlamydiales and other intracellular bacterial pathogens. I joined the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in 2007 as part of the new Institute for Genome Sciences.

Research Interests:

I apply the tools of genomics, comparative genomics and functional genomics to understand bacterial diversity, virulence and host-pathogen interactions, specifically to intracellular bacteria such as Chlamydia.
