Personal History:

My current position at SNBL Clinical Pharmacology Center is President and Chief Operating Officer, with a joint academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and medical staff appointments at the University of Maryland Medical Center, UMMC Midtown Campus and the Baltimore Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

I received my MB ChB from Baghdad College of Medicine in 1967 and completed residency training in internal medicine at The Fulham Hospital, London, UK, Maryland General Hospital and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Subsequently, I completed my training in infectious diseases and immunology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and New York University School of Medicine. In 1994, I completed a course of clinical effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health. My board certification are in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

I have written 7 books and book chapters and over 20 refereed journal articles.

Research Interests:

My areas of expertise and research interest include adult vaccine development and anti-infective.
