Personal HistoryDr. Domenici has been a member of the faculty at the University of Maryland since July 1985. He assumed the role of Acting Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine in 1994 and became the full time chief in 1996. He has served in that capacity ever since. Dr. Domenici maintains an active internal medicine practice emphasizing preventive care and disease management. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine’s Quality Assurance Committee since 1995. He has an interest in quality assurance, risk management and utilization review. In addition, Dr. Domenici has designed and implemented several hospitalist services within the University of Maryland School of Medicine, which include the original Med 2 service, the Med 3 & 4 academic hospitalist model, the Med 5 transplant hospitalist model and the Med 6 direct admission service hospitalist model. He has lectured in the past on the abuse of the epidemic as well as on risk management, quality and utilization issues.
