Personal History:

Dr. Saunders graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1960, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. His clinical practice is limited to Cardiology and Hypertension. He is also Head, Section of Hypertension, in the Cardiology Division of the Department of Medicine.

Research Interests:

Hypertension in special populations (elderly,diabetics and other concomitant diseases,and ethnic groups such as African Americans) Efficacy and Safety trials with anti-hypertensive drugs ,pre and post FDA approval.

* Test anti-hypertensive drugs
* 24-hour ambulatory BP monitoring
* Extra-vascular stimulation to lower BP
