Personal HistoryDr. Walker is an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the Department of Medical and Research Technology and the Graduate Program Committee Chair . She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the same department and is ASCP certified. In addition, she received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the Medical College of Virginia campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Research InterestsDr. Walker's research interests are centered on the molecular regulation of Gram-negative bacterial pathogenesis, including both enteric and respiratory pathogens. Her current research project focuses on novel, non-antibiotic methods to control Gram-negative pathogens using proteins from the dimorphic aquatic predator, Bacteriovorax and pathogenic Enterobacter species. Dr. Walker is an active member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), having served as a 2000-2001 AAAS/ASM Congressional Fellow in the office of the late Paul D.
