2012 Commencement Invitation

The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health is dedicated to improving public health by training medical students, graduate students, and health professionals, and by conducting research that has a significant impact on people's lives.

Located on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus, EPH is a rapidly growing, exciting place in which to work and study. There is a close working relationship with other University of Maryland professional schools, including Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Social Work, and the UMB Graduate School.

We are a unique department, with 58 faculty members involved in public health-related research and teaching activities. Our research strengths are reflected in the greater than $25 million in direct research funding that we receive each year. Our specialty deals with the causes, distribution, prevention, and control of disease.

We have outstanding, multifaceted graduate programs, including the CEPH-accredited Master in Public Health (MPH), and MS degrees in epidemiology, clinical research,  and biostatistics.

We offer PhD degrees in epidemiology, molecular epidemiology and gerontology. Learn more about our other degree programs.

Medical student education is also provided by the department in years 2-4, and EPH faculty supervise coursework in epidemiology, biostatistics, healthcare organization, preventive medicine, occupational health, and ambulatory care.
