The mission of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland is to provide excellence in clinical care of patients with endocrine disorders, to find cures and new treatments for endocrine disorders and diabetes through cutting edge research, and to educate and train present and future health care providers and medical researchers.
Under the leadership of Alan R. Shuldiner, MD, the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition is one of the largest Divisions of Endocrinology in the country with 22 full-time faculty.
The division provides a highly stimulating, academic and nurturing research environment, with extensive collaborations with other research groups on campus.
We also provide a comprehensive fellowship program providing both clinical exposure to all major endocrinopathies and training in clinical and basic research.
The faculty are extraordinarily collegial and collaborative and have diverse interests spanning clinical endocrinology and diabetes, clinical trials, epidemiology, cellular and molecular biology, functional genomics, and molecular and statistical genetics.
