Full-Time Appointments

Professor - Tenured* 
Associate Professor - Tenured* 
Professor - Tenure Track 
Associate Professor - Tenure Track

(*The APT Committee will consider rank and tenure as two separate actions).

  1. Seek approval of recruitment from the Dean’s Office before advertising.

  2. Once selected, have the top candidate meet with the Dean (see recruitment for specific process).

  3. Seek approval of the offer letter from the Dean’s Office before letter is sent to the candidate.

  4. Read the 2001 APT Committee memo regarding APT level appointments.

  5. Read through the checklist (MS Word or PDF) before beginning to obtain materials for this appointment and continue to use as a working guideline.

  6. Ensure all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.

  7. Include in the packet the eUMB action form, along with all necessary payroll documentation, to expedite payroll process.

  8. Be aware that all faculty appointments at these ranks may take 4 to 6 months to complete, as they need to be reviewed by the OAA, APT Committee, Executive Committee, School of Medicine Council, President and Dean.

  9. Do not send 75 copies (double-sided) of the candidate’s CV until you are notified that the appointment recommendation was forwarded to the Executive Committee.

Professor - Non-Tenure Track 
Associate Professor - Non-Tenure Track

  1. Seek approval of recruitment from the Dean’s Office before advertising.

  2. Seek approval of the offer letter from the Dean’s Office before letter is sent to the candidate.

  3. Read through the checklist (MS Word or PDF) before beginning to obtain materials for this appointment and continue to use as a working guideline.

  4. Ensure all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.

  5. Include in the packet the eUMB action form, along with all necessary payroll documentation, to expedite payroll process.

  6. Be aware that all faculty appointments at these ranks may take 4 to 6 weeks to complete, as they need to be reviewed by the OAA, Executive Committee, School of Medicine Council, President and Dean.

  7. Do not send 75 copies (double-sided) of the candidate’s CV until you are notified that the appointment recommendation is ready to be forwarded to the Executive Committee.

Assistant Professor - Tenure Track 
Assistant Professor - Non-Tenure Track

  1. Seek approval of recruitment from the Dean’s Office before advertising.

  2. Seek approval of the offer letter from the Dean’s Office before letter is sent to the candidate.

  3. Read through the checklist (MS Word or PDF) before beginning to obtain materials for this appointment and continue to use as a working guideline.

  4. Ensure all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.

  5. Include in the packet the eUMB action form, along with all necessary payroll documentation, to expedite payroll process.

  6. Be aware that all faculty appointments at these ranks may take 2 to 4 weeks to complete, as they need to be reviewed by the School of Medicine Council, VPAA and Dean.

Instructor - Non-Tenure Track 
Research Associate - Non-Tenure Track
Faculty Research Assistant - Non-Tenure Track

  1. Seek approval of recruitment from the Dean’s Office before advertising.

  2. Seek approval of the offer letter from the Dean’s Office before letter is sent to the candidate.

  3. Read through the checklist (MS Word or PDF) before beginning to obtain materials for this appointment and continue to use as a working guideline.

  4. Ensure all of the criteria listed have been met before submitting the completed packet to the OAA.

  5. Include in the packet the eUMB action form, along with all necessary payroll documentation, to expedite payroll process.

  6. Be aware that all faculty appointments at these ranks may take as long as 2 weeks to complete.
